Special education & civil rights ยท District of Columbia
When the school district has lawyers, your family should too.
Every matter starts with a free one-hour consultation. Tell me what is going on, and I will tell you honestly whether I can help and what working together would look like.
Practice areas
Two ways I can help
Special Education
If your child is not getting the support they need at school, you do not have to accept the district's answer as final.
IEPs, 504 plans & due process โCivil Rights
Discrimination is illegal. Proving it, and doing something about it, takes an advocate.
Disability rights & discrimination โWhy this practice exists
This work is personal for me
I am a neurodivergent attorney, the mother of a young autistic son, and the wife of a Type 1 diabetic who is also neurodivergent. I have lived on both sides of the table. At work, I challenge those who prevent the system from working for the people who rely on them. At home, I am the family member waiting to find out whether those systems will show up for the people I love.
Where I practice
I am licensed in the District of Columbia. For matters in Maryland, I work with local co-counsel when available. If your child's school is across the state line, reach out and I will tell you whether I can help.
Start with a free one-hour consultation.
You will never be charged for asking whether I can help. Call, email, or use the contact form. We will talk about your situation and go from there.
